These days you will find the Southern Methodist University coaching staff popping up all over the state and area in search for top prospects for the Mustangs.
New recruiting coordinator Jeff Reinebold, under the direction of new head coach June Jones has broaden the recruiting areas and hitting areas that are known for producing great talent.
Reinebold recently made a swing through Louisiana, which appears to have produced several offers for some of the Pelican State's top athletes.
"SMU offered me Thursday," Cogswell said. "I thought it was great, SMU is a great school with a great academic reputation."
Cogswell admits that he doesn't know a whole about the Dallas based school, but plans on going there sometime over the next couple of months.
Cogswell earned All-Conference and All-City honors last year and is listed on one Pre-Season All-American team. He ended his junior season with 97 tackles, 34 tackles for losses and 23 sacks.
According to Cogswell, Coach Reinebold is doing a great job recruiting him.
"He is trying to butter me up," laughed Cogswell. "You can tell that he really loves SMU and Coach Jones, he is fired up about the future of the program. SMU is a great opportunity for me."
Cogswell explained that academics are very important to him.
"I plan on using football to get a quality education," Cogswell said. "I want to go in the medical field; SMU has that opportunity for me."
Cogswell is also one of the strongest players on his Evangel Christian Team. He bench presses 400, squats 610. He has already scored a 19 on the ACT and has a 3.3 G.P.A. He currently has offers from SMU and Louisiana Monroe.
