Answering areas of needs has been a priority for the new coaching staff at Southern Methodist University.

One of those need areas were answered Wednesday afternoon when junior college corner back Bennie Thomas the III committed to the Mustangs.

Thomas, originally from West Palm Beach Florida and most recently Pima Community College, will play this fall for SMU.

"I have just committed and will be signing with SMU," Thomas told PonyStampede.Com Wednesday. "I'm very excited about playing here in Dallas. I really felt at home with the coaching staff and I love the campus, this is the right place for me."

Thomas, a 5-foot-10, 183-pound athlete that runs a 4.5 forty, is excited about playing on the Hilltop this fall.

"I can't wait to get enrolled and get started," Thomas said. "This is a great opportunity for me. I can't wait to get on the field and help SMU win some ballgames."

Thomas played one year at Pima and will be a sophomore at SMU.
