Recruiting for the Southern Methodist University coaching staff may be over by the summer if the Mustang coaching staff continues to pick up pledges at their current pace.
Five official commitments for the 2009 class so far, with several other top prospects appearing to being close to pulling the trigger with pledges of their own.
One area offensive lineman that appears close to committing to the Mustangs is Keller's Bryan Collins.
According to Collins, who attended SMU junior camp on Saturday, the Mustangs improved their chances for his early pledge.
"I enjoyed the camp a lot," Collins said. "Saturday's camp has persuaded me more towards making my commitment to SMU. It could happen really soon."
Collins appeared close to committing to SMU when he first received the official offer; he decided not to rush things after discussing things with his parents. The recent visit seems to be moving the standout lineman closer to a decision.
"I love it there," Collins said. "The campus is incredible. I met the offensive line coach, he really impressed me. They are such a cool staff. I feel confident that Coach Jones is going to turn the SMU program around."
Collins looks forward to getting coached by the Mustang coaching staff.
"It will give me the opportunity to see how it is to be coached by them," Collins said. "I look forward to begin building relationships with those coaches. They may end up being my coaches."
Collins is also hoping to learn a lot from the Mustang coaching staff.
"I learned a lot this past weekend," Collins said. "I really like Coach (Dennis) McKnight a lot. I can see myself being a Mustang."
