It appears that June Jones and quarterback coach Dan Morrison knows exactly what they are looking for in a quarterback for the Mustang offense.
"It went really well," Allen told PonyStampede.com Wednesday night. "I was really surprised by how much talent that was there. There were a lot of great receivers and quarterbacks. I learned a lot from the experience."
"I'm still hoping for one from SMU," Allen said. "I had a great camp at SMU. I completed most of my passes and threw the ball well. The coaches told me they were impressed with me, they want to evaluate the camp film further."
Allen was impressed with Jones and his past success.
"I told Coach Jones that I like his offense a lot," Allen said. "To play for him, to get to throw for him in a camp was a big honor for me."
Allen, who threw for 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns last season and also ran for 254 yards and five more scores, was recently rated a three star prospect by Scout.com.
Allen won't admit to having a favorite, but did admit that the relationships he has built with coaches over the last few months will be a factor in his final decision. One relationship that appears stronger than most is that of Allen's and Ole Miss offensive coordinator Kent Austin.
"Ole Miss is definitely high on my list," Allen said. "Coach Austin and I have really built a great relationship. We click very well; he is a great offensive mind. I also have a lot of admiration for Coach Jones at SMU, I love his offense."
Allen has already scored a 26 on the ACT and has a 3.9 G.P.A on a 4.0 scale.
