Browning has a favorite, has interest in SMU

For Mabank High School quarterback Kolton Browning, the MVP of Henderson County is not enough.

"I want to go to school where I can get a good education while also competing at a high level," Browning told PonyStampede.com on Monday afternoon.

Browning is a great quarterback prospect who at 6-3, 185 has good size for a quarterback and has the speed to back it up with a 4.68 40-time.

He has spent time at camps at various schools such as University of Louisiana-Monroe, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, and Baylor; however, he as not received an official scholarship offer from any schools.

Although he has not attended camp at SMU this summer, he did attend Junior Day, which he said "was extremely organized, and the coaches really had it together. The campus was absolutely beautiful, and it was just a fun experience overall."

When asked about his favorite five schools, Browning named an early leader for his services. "University of Louisiana-Monroe is my top right now, but other than that I really like SMU, Rice, Tulsa and Baylor."

Hopefully Coach Jones will be able to convince Browning that SMU is the place for him, and the Mustang football program is on the rise.

Browning said he hopes to major in business and has already taken the SAT and ACT. He scored a 1285 on the SAT and a 19 on the ACT. He currently has a 3.1 GPA.
