"It's all about having fun." That's what LaChristian Thomas from Gregory-Portland High School told PonyStampede.com early Tuesday evening.

The versatile player out of Portland, TX just wants to play football, and he will play wherever the coaches put him. That's why throughout his high school career coaches have been deciding which position is best for him.

"I prefer to play linebacker, because I enjoy being able to see more of the field, but I will play wherever the coaches put me. I want to do whatever I can to help the team," Thomas said.

So far he has only attended one camp, at UTEP, but he has wanted to get up to visit SMU. "I've heard great things about SMU-- the campus, the coaches, and the facilities. Also, I want to go somewhere close to home, and SMU isn't too far."

Unfortunately, Thomas couldn't make it to SMU camp earlier this summer because he had to work; however, Thomas plans to get to SMU later in the summer. In July, he will be in San Antonio with his family and they are planning on driving up to University Park to see what the campus has to offer.

As far as what this young man is looking for in a school, Thomas says "I want to play at a school where they treat the players fairly, where every player has a shot. Besides that, I want there to be a good community and most of all I want to play on a fun team, because that's what I love to do. Play football."

Thomas has no official offers thus far, but at 6' 4" 225 lbs, Thomas is well built to play in the run and gun C-USA. He is currently awaiting the results of his SAT scores and plans on majoring in computer science.

"I have spoken to SMU, but no offer has been discussed," Thomas said. "I would have to have an offer from SMU; right now I don't have any offers."
