"I love representing a team in the metroplex," Collins said. "It's close to home and it will give me a great opportunity to get a quality education."
Collins parents had advised the talented lineman to take his time in his decision, something he has wanted to do for some time now.
"We discussed it again and they love the campus and the quality of education I will receive there," Collins said. "They are very happy with my decision."
Collins has been to the SMU on three separate occasions and fell in love with the campus.
"I love it there," Collins said. "The campus is incredible. I met the offensive line coach, he really impressed me. They are such a cool staff. I feel confident that Coach Jones is going to turn the SMU program around."
