Southern Methodist University picked up its No. 20 commitment for its 2009 recruiting class this week when Ennis standout athlete Deonte McDade committed to the Mustangs on Thursday.

McDade, a standout athlete that plays quarterback, wide receiver, running back and defensive back for Ennis High School, appears to be headed to the defensive side of the ball for SMU.

According to McDade's father Billy, SMU wants the standout athlete to play defensive back during his tenure on the Hilltop.

"Actually Deonte didn't commit today, he committed to SMU a couple of days ago," McDade said Saturday night. "He is very excited; they want him on the defensive side of the ball. He will play wherever they need him the most, according to Coach Derrick Odum who recruited him, he wants to coach him."
