Southern Methodist University's head basketball coach Matt Doherty has proven the last couple of years that he can recruit with the best coaches in the country.
Over the summer the Mustangs lost one of its commitments when Jared Dubois requested and was granted a release after SMU received another commitment from highly rated four star Paul McCoy.
It appears that SMU may have found Dubois replacement, as one Texas High School prospect is currently being recruited by the Mustang coaching staff.
PonyStampede.com spoke to Houston's Strake Jesuit's Tim Frazier Tuesday night and it appears that the talented three star prospects could be on the verge of getting a SMU offer.
"I have a lot of interest in SMU," Frazier said. "SMU was the first to show interest in me, they backed off a little and now they are coming on strong again after one of the guys they signed got a release. They have come on lately with a lot of interest and I think an offer may be soon on the table."
Frazier, who already has offers from Stanford, Harvard, Penn State, TCU, Boise State and Colorado State, has a connection to SMU. Fellow teammate and friend James Scott has already committed to the football staff at SMU.
"James and I are great friends," Frazier said. "It would be great to go to the same school with him."
Another key factor for Frazier's interest in SMU is the school's academic reputation.
"Getting a great education is very important to me," Frazier said. "SMU has that reputation. It's a great school not too far from home; it's the perfect situation for me."
