Conference USA one of the top leagues's in the country?

That question hasn't been asked much lately, but after convincing upsets by East Carolina over Virginia Tech and West Virginia sports fans across the country have taken notice of this league.

Defending conference champion UCF has a chance to bring more recognition to the league when George O'Leary takes his squad into ACC country at Boston College. Other big games include East Carolina traveling to North Carolina State, Rice at Texas and TCU at SMU.

Victories by any of the Conference USA representatives in any of the above mention games would further the league's status of one of the most up and coming conferences in the country.

UCF at Boston College

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that UCF will pull off the upset. Can you classify it as an upset really? Both teams come into the game 1-1, and this game will be a test just how good either team really is.

My prediction UCF 31-28 over Boston College

East Carolina at NC State

Will the real East Carolina team please stand up? After being two nationally ranked opponents in Virginia Tech and West Virginia, they barely got by a not so good Tulane squad last week. That game should have brought the Pirates back to earth.

My prediction East Carolina 42-38 over NC State

Houston at Colorado State

The last time the Cougars played a Mountain West team, they lost a heartbreaker to Air Force in Dallas. A game that was played at SMU due to Hurricane Ike. Can the Cougars bounce back this week?

My prediction 31-21 Houston over Colorado State

Marshall at Southern Miss

We may be Marshall, but they aren't Southern Miss. Look for the Golden Eagles to continue their vast improvement this season, taking down another Conference USA foe. Yes Marshall did beat Memphis on their home field, but hey Memphis appears not very good this fall.

My Prediction Southern Miss 45-21 over Marshall

Nichols State at Memphis

If Memphis doesn't win this game Saturday, look for the moving trucks to be at Tommy West's house Sunday morning. A must win for West and program.

My prediction Nichols State 17-14 over Memphis

Rice at Texas

How good is Rice? Well I guess we are about to find out. Can the Owls play on the same field as the Longhorns? Rice has had a habit in the pass of playing well against UT, an upset Saturday would super charge this Rice team.

My prediction Texas 38-14 over Rice

TCU at SMU

The Battle for the Iron Skillet is on the line in this heated rivalry match up. If you don't think anything can happen when these two team meet up, ask Gary Patterson about the 2005 season. That is when TCU's only loss that season was to SMU.

My prediction SMU 21-17 over TCU

Louisiana Monroe at Tulane

Tulane should win this one, despite Monroe believing that this is a winnable game for them. A state battle of smaller schools should go to the Green Wave.

My prediction Tulane 28-24 over ULM

New Mexico at Tulsa

Tulsa should do well in this contest. New Mexico is a solid defensive unit without much offense. Tulsa has a lot of offense, not a great defense.

My prediction Tulsa 48-28 over New Mexico

Alabama State at UAB

UAB finally gets a break on its schedule. Expect UAB to release the Dragons in this one.

My prediction UAB 56-21 over Alabama State

New Mexico State at UTEP

Usually you would expect the home team to have the advantage, not so fast. Hal Mumme's fast break offense will put up a lot of points. Can Mike Price slow them down?

My prediction New Mexico State 45-38 over UTEP

After two weeks we are currently 12-4 on our picks.
