Coaching football at the University of Hawaii for the past nine years, June Jones has learned a lot about the Polynesian culture.
He has always admired their work ethic and their passion for football, the veteran football coach probably took that into consideration when offering the Mustang's latest commitment K.J. Vaifale of Corona California's Centennial High School.
PonyStampede.com confirmed with Centennial Head Football Coach Matt Logan that Vaifale indeed make his commitment to Southern Methodist University last week, instead of Monday night like its being reported by other media sources.
"K.J. committed to SMU last week," Logan said. "He is very excited about the opportunity."
According to Coach Logan the Mustangs is getting not only a great football player but a great young man.
"K.J. has a nose for the football," Logan said. "He plays with a lot of passion and emotions. He is a fiery type player that loves to hit. He is a great young man, a true leader on our team."
Vaifale, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound athlete is expected either play safety or corner back for SMU.
Vailfale makes commitment No. 22 for the Mustangs.
