One Southern Methodist University commitment got the opportunity to see first hand why everyone loves the Hilltop experience so much.
Living in the Houston area, Darius Johnson hasn't been able to make the trip up to Dallas as much as he would like. He and his parents made the journey Saturday and came away very impressed with their visit.
"It was good," Johnson told PonyStampede.com. "It's a great campus, the team is fun to watch and I really like the coaches a lot."
More importantly what did Darius' mom Angela think of SMU?
"She likes it a lot," Johnson said. "She really does, she loves the coaches."
Johnson recently picked up another official offer from Boston College recently, is the talented wide receiver going to visit the ACC school on the East Coast.
"We are talking about that now," Johnson said. "I'm not sure I will take a visit there or not, it's a long ways from home."
Johnson has confirmed his official visit to the Hilltop. He will be making the trip to Dallas with his parents on December 8th.
"I'm very much committed to SMU," Johnson said. "I love their offense and I feel that I can come in and help a very talented group of guys. I think I will bring something to the unit."
Johnson got a chance to meet June Jones and sit down and visit with the head coach before the ballgame.
"He was really glad I was there," Johnson said. "He told me how important I was to his program and his offense. Coach Jones and the coaching staff and the team made me feel part of the family already."
Johnson's Ft Bend Hightower team enters the Texas State playoffs this week, as one of the undefeated teams in the state.
"Our goal is to win it all," Johnson said. "We are excited about our season; we know we have our work cut out for us."
Johnson was also impressed by getting the chance to meet Dallas Cowboy Terrell Owen.
"That was very cool," Johnson said. "Coach Jones knows a lot of NFL guys, it shows."
