It's been a busy week for Crockett's outside linebacker JaGared Davis.
Last week he received an official offer from Southern Methodist University. On Friday he and his family journeyed to the Hilltop for an official visit.
Did the standout athlete enjoy his visit; did he make a decision over the weekend?
"No I didn't commit to SMU this weekend," Davis told PonyStampede.com Sunday. "It's a place I could see myself playing football at one day. A decision could be coming in the next couple of weeks or so, I have to sit down and discuss everything with my mom."
"I was really pleased with the offer from SMU," Davis said. "Coach (Tim) Hundley is a great coach and it's been easy getting to know him. I'm really impressed with the entire coaching staff."
Davis, a 6-foot-1, 200 athlete who runs a 4.45 forty, explained that SMU is recruiting him to play outside linebacker for the Mustangs.
"They said they are looking to add a lot more speed to their defense," Davis said. "They want me to play outside linebacker."
Does Davis have a new favorite after the visit this weekend?
"Right now I would say I'm leaning towards SMU," Davis said. "I liked it a lot there."
Davis ended his senior season with over 110 tackles for the year, four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.
Davis also enjoyed his one on one visit with Coach June Jones.
"He told me how much they really wanted me at SMU," Davis said. "He told me that they were very high on me, and that I could make a big impact there."
