It's no secret that the SMU Mustangs need immediate help defensively, specifically in the defensive secondary.
It appears that second year head coach June Jones addressed those need areas, picking up his second defensive back commitment over the weekend.
Junior College corner Sterling Moore confirmed with PonyStampede.com Sunday afternoon that he had indeed committed to SMU Sunday morning.
"Dallas was a lot better than I expected it to be," Moore said. "I had a great trip. The trip was good, I loved it there."
Moore, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound cover corner, will have three years to play two seasons at SMU. Deciding to pull the trigger Sunday morning, Moore took the official offer that Jones extended.
"I'm going to be a Mustang," said an excited Moore. "During my meeting with Coach Jones, he explained his goals for this program. I told him I wanted to be a part of things, there are so many young guys coming back this fall, this team could be very special before all is said and done."
Another thing that impressed Moore was the campus environment.
"The environment is outstanding, everyone supports the team, not a college town being in the big city," Moore said. "Could see spending next two or three years of my life there.". Moore has already graduated from Junior College and will report to Dallas the first week of June for summer school.
