While National Signing Day can be fun for fans, it can be a stressful day for a commit. SMU 2009 commit Joey Fontana is just glad the process is over.

"I committed back in August and I thought it would be done back then, but you still got guys calling you and getting mail everyday," said Fontana. "I knew when I committed that SMU was the place for me. If I was going to change my mind, it was going to take a lot for them to make me change it."

Listed as Scout.com's 10th best center, Fontana also had offers from LA Tech, Arkansas, Stanford, and Tulane.

"Now it is time to get after it. I guess July 1st is when I'm going to up there. I wish I could be up there this week," said Fontana. I talked to some of the players last night and they told me what they are doing and when I was going to get my book. It's pretty exciting."

According to Fontana, he also felt he could make an early impact for the Mustangs.

"I feel I can come in and have an opportunity to play early," Fontana told PonyStampede.com in August." I want to be a part of something special, that's why I chose SMU."
