At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, McNeil High School's (16-5A) Kurt Killens is considered one of the best 2010 linebackers in the state of Texas. Last season, he recorded 112 tackles including 7 for loss, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries in nine games. An explosive tackler, Killens recruiting is high right now, but that doesn't mean the recruit is sharing.
"There are a lot of things that are between my dad, my high school coaches, and the college coaches that I can't bring out just yet, but there are a lot of schools that are heavily recruiting me. There are a lot of schools that talking about offers with me," said Killens (4.61-forty).
While he is not sharing, it is believed that he is receiving heavy interest from LSU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Stanford. Could SMU be one of the schools that interests Killens? Is he hearing from the Mustangs?
"Oh yes definitely they are one of the schools," stated Killens to PonyStampede.com. "I know SMU has a really good business school and they have a new coaching staff. Coach Jones has them looking like a program that is on the rise."
So does SMU have the things that Killens is looking for in a school?
"The top three things that will be going into my decision are academics, environment, and athletics," said Killens. "With SMU, it definitely fits it since I'm majoring in business."
"Playing time as a freshman is obviously a bonus. It's one thing that I'm looking to do where ever I go, I would like a chance to step in there and start right away."
PonyStampede.com will have more Kurt Killens updates as they become available.
