SMU has proved that no matter who the recruit is, they are not afraid of offering the best talent in the state.

One recruit that the Mustangs seem to be battling with area teams on is linebacker/defensive back Harvey Jackson. A Hightower product, Jackson played last season with 2009 SMU recruit Darius Johnson.

"Darius Johnson has been talking to me about them. He has been telling me it's really nice over there and that they treat their players really well," stated Jackson. "They treat them like it's a big family and that they are home. Besides for Darius I don't know much about them."

Besides for an official offer from SMU, he also has offers from Baylor, Utah, SMU, Houston, Nebraska, Duke, and Rice. Along with hearing from schools like Texas Tech, Oregon, Stanford, and Vanderbilt.

"Well a couple things I will be looking for is their success in football, rotation, T.V. time, and graduation rates," said Jackson. "I would like to try to make a decision close to the end or in the middle of the season."

So what is the junior working on during the off-season?

"I'm working on my speed and strength. My size will come with it as I work on those two things," said Jackson.

"I'm a focused player that is a real student of the game. I don't know what more to say, but hardworking.'

Jackson is 6'2 and is weighing around 190 pounds. The 2010 prospect benches 255 pounds and squats 360. It is unclear what position he will play at the next level. Some would like to see him as a safety, some would like to see him gain more weight and play linebacker.

Jackson is not sure at this point in time if he will be visiting SMU anytime soon. PonyStampede.com will have more Harvey Jackson updates as they become available.
