SMU fans are now well aware of the talent coming out of Lakewood High School in California. In the last couple of weeks, the Mustangs have offered a total of four Lancers to scholarship (QB. Jesse Scroggins, WR. Kevin Anderson, DL. Justin Utupo, and S. Dion Bailey).

"We all have been trying to go somewhere together. It would be really nice and a huge blessing for us," said wide receiver Kevin Anderson. "We all thought it was kind of weird getting the offer from SMU, because we were just talking about going somewhere together, but we all thought it was really cool."

Interest in Anderson (6-0, 175-pounds, 4.45 forty) is definitely going up in the last couple of weeks. Currently he holds offers from SMU, Washington, Washington State, and Arizona State. He is also hearing from schools like Tennessee, UCLA, Michigan, and Oregon.

"The very first thing that I'm going to do is when I go to make my decision is go to God. He is number one and I will ask him what I should do," said Anderson. "Then of course I will talk with my family, friends, and coaching staff and get their help on what I should do. I will really evaluate things and see what each school has to offer before I make a decision."

So will Anderson be making the trip to the Hilltop this summer to check things out?

"Oh yeah, it's definitely a big possibility. My dad and me are talking about it. Once they gave me an offer I was pumped. My coaches were pumped too," said the 2010 recruit. "I know they are a Christian school and they throw the ball a lot! I really like that! Otherwise I know they are in Texas. That is about it."

Last season Lakewood went 10-3 overall, getting knocked out in the 3rd round of the California state playoffs. In 13 games, Anderson had 50 receptions for 762 yards and 13 touchdowns. The game-changing performer also had 8 rushes for 150 yards and a touchdown.

"With Jesse Scroggins running our attack we should be even better next year," Anderson said. " One of my personal goals is to double what I did last year as far as stats. I'm working on my speed and agility right now. I'm working every day on my route running and of course working in weight room with my teammates every other day."

Stats don't lie. It's easy to see that when Anderson touches the ball he is a threat to go the distance. How would he describe himself?

"If someone were to ask me, I would say that I'm a play-maker. I have great route running technique and skills. I'm quick off the line and very aggressive. Who ever lines up on the other side of me I take it to an offense. They are not supposed to be on the same field as me. I take it personally."

PonyStampede.com will have more on Kevin Anderson and the rest of the Lakewood offers as it becomes available.
