"It went very well. The coaching staff was very responsive to the recruits. They made you feel like they really wanted you there. It was really nice. Texas Tech's was bigger, but I got a better vibe from SMU," stated Blakemore to PonyStampede.com. "The campus was beautiful. It was put together very well and I could see myself on the campus. It was really nice."
After leading his team in receiving the last two seasons, Blakemore (5-11, 170 pounds, 4.5-forty) will move to quarterback after Baron Scudder graduated. Last season as a wide receiver, Blakemore caught 42 balls for 635 yards and 8 touchdowns.
"Coach Hill has been bragging on SMU a lot. He says that June Jones brings a tradition with him and that he is going to turn things around," said the Wimberley Texan. "He has told me that he wants me to be part of the program and help out. He tells me my speed is my key factor."
So when offers do start coming in, what is Blakemore looking for in a school?
"The three things that I will be looking for in a school is the location, the football team's status, and academics. My top school at the moment would be SMU and then I would say Texas Tech, Rice, and then Iowa State."
All recruits are different. Some like to take their decision down to the last minute, others like to get out of the way before their senior year, what is Blakemore thinking right now?
"I would like to make my decision fairly quickly. If SMU did offer, I would take it really quick," said the junior. "I just like the school and the atmosphere. It's something that I want to be part of."
PonyStampede.com will have more on Wimberley wide receiver/quarterback Brooks Blakemore if news becomes available.
