Even with one running back giving his verbal commitment to the Mustangs, SMU is not done recruiting at the position. After hearing that Vanderbilt has been showing an increased amount of interest for Vista Ridge running back Calvin Thompson, I thought it would be a good idea for Scout.com to give him a call and see where he stands!

How is recruiting going these days?

"I'm waiting and see what happens with Vanderbilt and also talking with Arkansas quite a bit. Vanderbilt is saying they are going to wait until the first game of the season or so to decide what they are going to do. I don't know if they are going to offer me or not? So, I won't be making a decision for a while."

If Vanderbilt does offer, would you accept it right away?

"There is a good possibility that I would. I really just want to wait and see what happens with who offers me. I like a couple schools."

Where does SMU rank in the whole picture of things?

"They are definitely still up there. It just depends on what other offers I have. I really like the Mustangs. It's a school that I could see myself playing at. They have been recruiting me for a while."

Refresh our memories, what are you wanting in a school?

"I want a place where I feel like I could play a lot and get a good education. Those are the main things."

Your current height and weight?

"I'm 6'2 and weight about 200."

What have you been up to this summer?

"We have been working out everyday and I think that I'm getting faster and stronger. I hit up the UTEP camp. It went pretty good. I think they are getting close to offering me as well."

Any other big plans the rest of the year?

"I'm just going to keep working out and there are a few camps that I might try to go to since I didn't go to many in the early part of the summer. My team also made it to the state 7-on-7 tournament. That was pretty big for us, so I have that."

Speaking your of your team, what is your outlook on this season for Vista Ridge?

"This is the first year that we have ever made it to the 7-on-7 tournament so that is pretty exciting. Everyone is working extremely hard and the spring was great. Our team improved a lot. We have new coaches and everyone is trying to get new plays down and everything. I'm expecting big things."
