The breath was taken out of every SMU player, coach, and fan following tonight's unbelievable loss. The Mustangs weren't expected to win, but that didn't stop them from coming out of the gates strong. The first half was dominated by SMU, who led 34-20 at halftime. The fourteen point lead was something to marvel at since UAB was such a heavy favorite in this game. But then, the second half began, and with that, SMU's momentum hit a brick wall.

The second half may go down as one of the worst in SMU's history. They were outscored 43-28 after halftime, and were unable to hold their lead they built up in the first half. UAB blazed back in the second half, and pulled off an amazing comeback over SMU. They scored the game winning shot with 1:11 left in the game, and SMU was unable to score in the final minute. Derek Williams even had a layup chance with one second left in the game, but couldn't sink the shot.

The Mustangs were led by Derek Williams, who knocked down 23 points, with five three pointers. UAB outrebounded the Mustangs 37-25. On UAB's side, they were led by Elijah Milsap. The junior guard scored 20 points, and finished with 11 rebounds. The Blazers only shot 39.3% from the field, but still managed to win this game.

The Mustangs will have a lot to think about before their next game against Rice. SMU's two game losing streak has dropped them to 6-10 (0-3) on the season, and second to last in the C-USA. UAB moves to 15-2 on the year, and currently sit at second place in the C-USA.
