UAB blazed back in the second half, and pulled off an amazing comeback over SMU. They scored the game winning shot with 1:11 left in the game, and SMU was unable to score in the final minute. Derek Williams even had a layup chance with one second left in the game, but couldn't sink the shot.
The Mustangs were led by Derek Williams, who knocked down 23 points, with five three pointers. UAB outrebounded the Mustangs 37-25. On UAB's side, they were led by Elijah Milsap. The junior guard scored 20 points, and finished with 11 rebounds. The Blazers only shot 39.3% from the field, but still managed to win this game.
The Mustangs will have a lot to think about before their next game against Rice. SMU's two game losing streak has dropped them to 6-10 (0-3) on the season, and second to last in the C-USA. UAB moves to 15-2 on the year, and currently sit at second place in the C-USA.
