At 6'1, 180 pounds, Curtis Shorts likes to play the run, knocking ball carriers back into the backfield.
"I would describe my game as more of the Bob Sanders type. I love running down hill, because I like to blow up running backs. I absolutely love to make tackles, but I'm not afraid to cover a guy as well," said Shorts to PonyStampede.com. "This was my first year starting at free safety and my second year on varsity. Last year, I started as a outside linebacker."
"It's got to be a school with good academics. I'm looking to go to school all four years and get my education. I'm not looking for a school where I only play football," said the 2010 prospect. "I think I want to major in broadcasting."
After visiting Texas A&M this fall, Shorts took a visit to SMU for the Mustangs game against Tulane. The junior walked away very impressed and wanting more.
"It was a great experience. I loved it, I really did. I really hope that I get another opportunity to go back again. The facilities were great and I loved the atmosphere," said Shorts. "It was huge for that program to turn it around. Last year I watched them a lot, because they were in the metroplex, I had been to a couple of their games."
Shorts should see a increase in his recruiting after National Signing Day. While he only visited SMU and Texas A&M this fall, he has been in email contact with almost a dozen schools.
