QB prospect checks in with Mustangs

June Jones and crew have made it a habit to try to stay within a 500 mile radius of the DFW area. For them to head out state, the player has to be pretty special. For it to be a quarterback, he has to be a major future D-1 talent.

PonyStampede.com has already introduced SMU fans to Serra high school product Connor Preston, and now it's time for an update. The junior signal-caller spent fifteen minutes with PonyStampede.com on Facebook, filling us in on his recent recruiting.

"USC is talking about offering me and our defensive end," said Preston. "I also talked to Adrian Klemm on the phone yesterday from SMU."

While Dan Morrison will be most quarterback's main SMU recruiting contact, Klemm has been working the California area, snagging Ben Gottschalk in the last recruiting class and recently offering Dontae Levingston.

"He just expressed their interest in me and how they don't really recruit outside of Texas, so for them to come to Cali to get me, shows how serious they are about me," said the junior. "He's a pretty cool guy. He actually played high school ball out here for one of my coaches.

Besides for SMU and USC, other schools like Washington, Arizona, Cal, Oregon, and Miami are recruiting the quarterback.

"I think he was able to sense that although i have the opportunity to play at some big D-1 schools, I'm genuinely interested and excited to perhaps play for SMU."
