Edwards snags two more offers

The offers are coming in bunches for this Brenham wide receiver. What is he thinking right now in recruiting? Come inside for the details.

The offers just keep coming for Brenham wide receiver Derek Edwards. The junior is up to nine already, after receiving an offer from SMU late last week and a one from Arizona on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-1, 170 pounder is a sub 4.4 play-maker that racked up 54 receptions for 814 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2009.

"My tops school right now are Oregon, Texas Tech, and TCU, but I also want to hear from Miami, USC, and Ohio State," said Edwards to PonyStampede.com.

Currently, SMU, Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, Houston, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU, and Utah have all offered.

"I'm really wanting to weigh my options now and see how each school is going to react. I'm trying to learn more about all the teams including SMU. I know that one of our secondary guys Jeremy Hall is committed and signed with SMU. That is really all I know right now," said Edwards. "A program that's gonna treat me like I'm supposed to be treated...like a family. Academics, that's at the top, I should have said that first. Academics is definitely a number one. The NFL would be terrific but the chances of going to the NFL are very, very slim for an average athlete, so academics first."

Earlier in the week, he tried to describe his game to Educks.com: "I just get open. I've got great hands, good speed after I catch the ball, good vision on hitches and jailbreaks and screens and stuff like that. Catch and go and open field speed, route running, and I try to play bigger than what I am."

The junior doesn't know if he will be visiting the Hilltop, but is open to.
