New SMU offeree with Mustang connection

After starting for the last two seasons, this SMU offeree is feeling the heat from one of his friends to become a Mustang. Is he ready to commit? We have the answers inside!

After starting two years on varsity and collecting 63 tackles with two interceptions last season, Rodney Hubert's day has come. The junior received his first offer last week, when SMU extended paperwork to the Brenham junior.

"It feels really good. I feels like my work has paid off," stated Hubert to PonyStampede.com.

At 5'11, 165 pounds, Hubert is also hearing from TCU, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Oregon State, and Colorado State. No one else has offered, but the Breham product feels TCU might be close.

Hubert shared the secondary this past season with Jeremy Hall. Hall, signed with the Mustangs in 2010, and is now pressuring Hubert to follow in his footsteps.

"Me and Jeremy are like brothers. He is trying to get me to go there wth him," said the 2011 prospect. "I thought about committing, but I want to see what other offers are available for me. I would like to get it done before my senior year, but I will talk with my parents about it."

Hubert did attend SMU for junior day and liked the campus. At this point, the corner hasn't visited any other junior days besides for his one on the Hilltop.

So what is Hubert looking for in a school?

"I want a school that can help me out and turn me into a man and I want something that is fairly close to home," said Hubert.
