When PonyStampede.com caught up with Rowlett defensive end Zach Wood back in early March, he had a handful of school recruiting him. Now it's late April and Wood's number of school is in the double digits.

"At this point, it's the three offers and Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, TCU, A&M, OSU, Baylor, Tech, and Tulsa," said Wood to PonyStampede.com on Monday night. "SMU, Houston, and Minnesota have all offered me."

The 6'3, 245 pound junior, who accumulated 99 tackles, eight sacks, and an incredible 32 tackles for loss last season, made SMU's final spring practice on Saturday. Wood had been to SMU before, but it was his first chance to watch the Mustang practice.

"I had a good time with Coach Mason. We talked about what I would be doing in the defense if I committed there," said Wood. "I was able to see the campus and it was awesome. My dad and I walked around for a while. It' was a really good time."

Wood, who runs a 4.8 forty, classifies himself as a speed rusher. But, the Metroplex product realizes that he must continue to improve and get better if he hopes to be successful on the next level. He's using this off-season to work with a personal trainer to improve his explosion.

At this point, don't expect a commitment to any school in the near future. Wood would like to weigh his options a while longer.

"I'm going to try to wait until mid-summer. A lot of the schools have one-day camps, so a lot of the schools could offer me at one of those," said the Rowlett product .

PonyStampede.com will stay in contact with the junior and inform Scout.com members if anything should happen with this recruit.
