On Monday, PonyStampede.com was able to catch up with SMU quarterback offeree Conner Preston on the record. Preston is coming off a good performance at the Nike Camp in California.

"I talked to Coach Morrison last night for like an hour," said Preston to PonyStampede.com. "To be honest we talked about everything. We talked about Hawaii, other football programs, and me possibly committing. I'm looking at a late May to early June commitment wherever I decide to go. He said that's perfectly fine and he doesn't want me to rush at all."

Playing it ultra conservative might just be in the Mustangs favor with this recruit.

It's funny how the less of an aggressive approach they take sometimes makes you want to commit right then," said the junior. "He even got on the phone with my dad."

The Serra quarterback is not ready to commit anywhere yet, but SMU definitely leads the pack at this point, with Toledo and San Jose State being the others to offer.

"Both of my parents love SMU, but I'm fortunate enough to have parents that are open to what I want. They haven't swayed me in any direction," said Preston.

Preston started all 15 games for the Cavs, rarely finishing any because of so many blowouts, but still put up over 3,500 yards and 44 touchdowns.
