The Mustangs have offered seven defensive tackles and David Moala could be No. 8. The Serra junior recorded 110 tackles, 12 sacks, and five forced fumbles in 2009.
"I have been talking to Coach Klemm a little bit. He is saying that they really like me. They are going to come watch me on Tuesday and check me out," stated Moala to PonyStampede.com. "I know the Hawaii coaches are there and that they are turning around the program, but that is about it."
"I'm going to really sit down with my family and talk about it, but I really want to stay in the Pac-10. I think Michigan is possibly getting close to offering me, but I don't know," said the 6'1, 285 pound 2011 prospect.
As to describe himself, Moala stated: "I'm not really a high motor guy, but I think that coming into this year I'm going to have a little more speed. I went to the Nike camp and got overlooked by everyone, so coming into the year I've got some motivation."
PonyStampede.com will check in with Moala after the coaches visit the junior's practice.
Until then, here is a scouting evaluation from Scout.com:
