Sleeper Receiver in Conroe

Conroe WR Caleb Kroon averaged a whopping 36 yards per catch last year and he's ready to make his mark on the gridiron this fall.

Although Caleb Kroon didn't get many touches last year for the Conroe Tigers, he made the most of his opportunities. As a junior, the 6-foot-0, 180-pound wide receiver caught nine passes for 320 yards (35.6 yards per catch) and five of those receptions went for touchdowns.

Kroon had big games vs. Houston MacArthur (one catch, 74 yards, TD), Katy Seven Lakes (two catches, 90 yards, two TDs), and The Woodlands College Park (one reception, 58 yards, TD).

How does Kroon explain his penchant for making big plays? It's simple, according to him.

"People underestimate me," said Kroon.

Conroe went 5-6 last year and will lose 45 seniors, according to Kroon.

"We're going to be young and small," he said. "Spring went good, but we have a new quarterback taking over. I'm going to be playing baseball -- I'm in an Area Code game -- along with football workouts and 7-on-7 this summer. I play center field in baseball and I batted around .300 this year. I went 15-for-15 in stolen bases too."

Kroon doesn't have any offers yet, but he hopes to change that by putting up eye-popping numbers again this season.
