"I'm doing some bag drills and pass scales at school with my teammates," said Rhodes, "and I'm working with a trainer three days a week in preparation for the Ultimate 100 Camp in Atlanta. I'm lifting at school twice a week and then I work out with my trainer at a gym in Luling three times a week.
"The Ultimate 100 is on June 20. I'm going with my parents, my trainer, and a couple of my teammates: Alvin Kelly and Jordan Thompson. Alvin was one of the best offensive linemen at the National Underclassmen Combine and Jordan was one of the best defensive tackles. We all got invited to the Ultimate 100. Alvin was one of the top linemen, Jordan was one of the players with the most reps on the bench press, and I tied for the fastest time in the 40."
Last year, Rhodes (6-0, 190, 4.55) played rush end for Hahnville - and this year he'll spend considerable time at outside linebacker - but he's a natural strong safety.
"I think we can go to the Dome (state finals) this year if the offensive line gets stronger," he said. "We have buku animals on defense. I'm taking classes this summer to get my core GPA higher and I'll be taking the ACT soon. I like Ole Miss and Miami, but I'm interested in any school that has a nice program.
"I just want a chance to play for somebody in college. My trainer lined up these camps and combines and I'm trying to get myself out there and put my name on the map. I'm shooting for a 4.50-or-lower at the Ultimate 100."
