Wright Pledges To SMU

Monday was an exciting day for SMU fans, as the Mustangs picked up two commitments. SMU is looking for help at defensive tackle and the Mustangs found just that on Monday when Dayton DT Darian Wright gave his commitment.

Defensive tackle is an area of need for SMU in the 2011 recruiting class and the Mustangs picked up a good one when Darian Wright of Dayton committed this evening.

"Yes, I just committed to SMU," Wright said. "It's a dream come true for me to commit to a D-1 school."

Wright, who weighed in at 280 pounds Monday at SMU camp in Houston, played a huge part in Dayton's run to the state finals last year - finishing the season with 73 tackles, seven sacks, and 23 tackles for loss in 2009.

There's a chance that SMU could strike gold twice this year at Dayton, as the Mustangs have also extended an offer to defensive end Justin Booth (6-5, 255).

"Justin and I have talked about committing to the same place," said Wright. "We're pretty good friends. He wasn't sure that he would get a D-1 offer this early because he didn't have much film last year."

PonyStampede.com will have more details on Wright's commitment soon.
