Class of 2012 Star Lands SMU Offer

Athletic big men are difficult to find, but one of the biggest and most athletic linemen in Texas made an appearance at the SMU camp in San Antonio today - and he made a distinct impression on the coaching staff. In fact, Kyle Marrs (San Antonio Brandeis) landed his first offer, courtesy of the Mustangs.

SMU's coaching staff continued its travels today with football camp in San Antonio and Class of 2012 offensive tackle Kyle Marrs made quite an impression on the Mustangs.

"I got an offer today," said Marrs, who has incredible size at nearly 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds. "The camp went pretty good. I got to meet all of the coaches. We did some agilities and cone drills. I worked with Coach Klemm in one-on-one pass rush drills and he told me that they were interested in me. They told me to call them after the camp and then they offered me when we talked on the phone.

"It feels good. It's my first offer. Texas A&M has talked with me about offering, but they haven't done it yet. I think that Baylor and Oklahoma State might offer soon. I'm going to camp this summer at A&M, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma State, and LSU."

Brandeis finished with a 12-2 mark last year and Marrs expects another stellar season in 2010.

"We should be really good," he said. "We have six starters back on offense and maybe more than that on defense. I have some work to do, but my strengths are my balance, my control, my feet, and I like to finish people.

"I'm looking forward to learning more about the SMU program. I know that it's a really good school academically."
