"I'm thankful and grateful for the SMU offer," said Henderson, "but I committed to Utah several days ago and I'm focused on Utah right now. I'll keep SMU in mind if I change my decision.
"I felt that Utah was a good fit for me. It's a place where I can go in and showcase my talent. The coaches there explained their organization and approach to winning games and that impressed me. I'm taking a visit there this summer."
Henderson, who caught 25 passes for 413 yards and five TDs last year, said that another teammate (cornerback Devon White) might also commit to the Utes.
"We might do that (make it a package deal)," said Henderson. "We're very close. Right now, I'm just working out and I might hit some camps later this summer. We're at the school seven days a week. It's nonstop. The coaches don't give us a break."
McDonogh 35 is expected to challenge for the 4A crown in Louisiana this year. In addition to Henderson and White, the Roneagles feature quarterback Theltus Cobbins, who committed to Kentucky last month.
