"I've been offered by Mississippi State, South Alabama, and Nicholls State," said Bowman. "I think that Richmond may be close to offering too. I'm going to fly up there this month. I'm also receiving interest from Illinois and Minnesota.
"All three schools offered me during the spring. They saw my highlight tape and then came and watched me during spring training. I don't have a favorite school yet, but I would love to go to Mississippi State. It's just too early right now for my taste (to commit). I just feel truly blessed and thankful to have some offers."
Bowman is a physical safety (325-pound bench press, 500-pound squat) who compares his game to another hard-hitting strong safety that came from a New Orleans-area Catholic school -- current Louisiana Tech player Chad Boyd from Archbishop Shaw.
Last year, Holy Cross lost its first two games of the season -- versus 5A schools Slidell and Jesuit -- before embarking on a nine-game winning steak. The Tigers eventually dropped a close game (27-20) game to Rayville in the second round of the 3A playoffs.
"As soon as we lost to Slidell and Jesuit last year," said Bowman, "it became our goal to win those games this season. I went and watched Slidell during the spring and I understand that they've added a couple of new players, Stephon Smith and Stephen Smith, since then and I'm looking forward to facing them.
"I'm ready for the Jesuit game too and then we face our rival, Chalmette High, in the third week of the season. We're going to go 100% every game. We don't want another 'Rayville' this year."
In 2009 Bowman, an honorable mention all-state performer, recorded 132 tackles, 10 sacks, broke up five passes, and returned a fumble for a TD. He also spends some time at outside linebacker for the Tigers.
