Hubert Still in the Fold?

PonyStampede.com was represented at the Texas 7-on-7 state championships today and yesterday in College Station and we were able to speak with SMU commit Rodney Hubert of Brenham.

It's been a tumultuous past several days for SMU, as the Mustangs experienced some pronounced highs and lows on the recruiting front. The high, of course, came yesterday when four-star outside linebacker Devon Moreland from California committed to the Mustangs. The lows, on the other hand, involved two Class of 2010 signees, including Brenham defensive back Jeremy Hall.

Hall and a fellow 2010 signee (Darryl Jackson) were denied admission to SMU, despite qualifying under NCAA standards. That decision by the SMU administration could likely affect the status of a current Class of 2011 commit who hails from the same high school as Hall.

PonyStampede.com spoke with that prospect, cornerback Rodney Hubert, at the state 7-on-7 tournament and more details will be provided soon. While Hubert stated that he hasn't decommitted, the soon-to-be senior from Brenham also admitted that he is thinking of reopening his recruitment.
