John Curtis LB adding offers

For awhile, John Curtis Christian linebacker Seth Jones was one of the best-kept secrets in Louisiana. However, more schools have taken notice of Jones recently and he's added a quartet of new offers to his resume. Find out which schools are in the running to land the driving force of the Curtis defense.

John Curtis Christian School has its first fall practice on Monday and talked with Patriots OLB Seth Jones about the latest with his recruitment.

"I have offers from SMU, TCU, Tulsa, Middle Tennessee, and Tulane," said Jones, who is the most-heralded senior prospect on the 2010 Curtis squad. "I'm also hearing a good bit from Northern Illinois and Oklahoma State.

"I talked to coach (Jeff) Reinbold, who is recruiting me for SMU, last week. He wanted to see how I was doing and everything. I'm definitely going to take an official visit to SMU. I haven't talked to my coaches and looked at the schedule to plan any of that in detail yet."

Jones has a former teammate, LB Kenny Cain, at TCU. Does that give the Horned Frogs an advantage?

"I haven't talked to Kenny about it," Jones said. "I'm anxious to see TCU and the other schools that have offered me. I plan on taking all of my official visits before making a decision."

Curtis, which reached the state finals last year, should be strong on defense with the likes of Jones and underclassmen DT Marcel Andry and OLB/DE Torrey Bell.

"Marcel is a very good player for just being a sophomore last year," said Jones. "He has the potential to become a top player for us. Torrey is a very tall player (6-foot-5) with a long stride. He's built perfectly for the defensive end position. I have to look up at him when we talk."

As a junior, Jones (6-1, 225, 4.7) recorded 68 tackles, 11 sacks, and blocked four field goals. He was named all-state in football and helped lead the Patriots to the 2A state track & field championship.
