"Lately I have been working out, getting better, and I took out some time to visit Indiana over a week ago," he updated Scout.com.
"I was able to view their practice and facilities up there in Bloomington, and it was a great experience. I also was able to get an invite to the Mizzou scrimmage but I wasn't able to make it.
"They've been sending me a lot of mail along with Murray State and Illinois, who wants me to take a visit there to take in a game."
Johnson says things have really been picking up with recruiting. Johnson heads back to his school, Jireh Prep in North Carolina and he says it is going to really get serious as they prepare for the season.
"We'll be getting up at 5:00 every morning and working out," he said. "It is dedication, hard work. If I want to make that dream become a reality that is what I have to do."
While he doesn't have any new offers, he says several schools could be on the horizon.
"A lot of schools said they are waiting on new film from me," he said. "We have a new Coach now and so I have to send out some new film.
"Several schools are close, like Ohio, Air Force, and a lot of schools that want to see more of me. I have to jump on it early.
"Southern Miss is another school I've been interested in. I am always interested in them, Brett Favre came out of there and I know they have a good program."
Johnson said he still isn't ready to name any favorites, and hopes to either commit on national signing day or his birthday, which falls in December.
"I want to work on getting faster, because speed kills and I know that is what coaches are looking for," he said. "I also want to do more upper body work, and watching film is so important. I watch some film on some of the top corners in the game because you can always learn something from watching the best.
"I feel like I can play receiver, but in college the coaches want me to play corner. If anyone is willing to give me a shot at receiver I'll take it, though."
Johnson is eager to get the season started so he can continue to improve his game and continue to prepare for life at the next level. Keep it locked on Scout.com for all of your recruiting coverage.
