March Stock Report

The Southern Miss coaching staff has been busy evaluating and finding the best talent around, making offers and contacts as they seek to build a foundation for the future. Here is our monthly recruiting stock report with a look inside current targets.

The Eagle staff, now that they have had a chance get past the whirlwind of closing on the class of 2013, is out working hard and laying the foundation for the future.

Here is a look at our March Stock report, and the latest on current Eagle targets.

-Sione Palelei, RB, East Ascension HS, Gonzales (LA)- Palelei is a recent Eagle offer by Coach Perot, who knows Louisiana very well. Palelei is a very talented running back who the Eagles are looking to get a jump on. They are going to be competing with schools out west like BYU and Utah for him, but Southern Miss is working hard to get him in for junior day.

-Jesse Jackson, WR, Petal- Jackson is a local target that is a big focus for the Eagles. With great connections to the program, Southern Miss is trying to make sure these local players stay in the pine belt. The Eagles will have to battle MSU and OM for him, as all three in-state schools are in on him early.

-Markell Pack, WR, Purvis- Arguably the most talented receiver in the state this year, the Eagles were the third team to offer him because of the coaching transition. Pack will be a highly sought after receiver, but Coach Monken has a great track record with high profile receivers. This will play a factor in his decision.

-Charles Standberry, WR, Carver HS, Montgomery (AL)- Standberry was offered first by Southern Miss, and he's thrilled with the prospect of playing for the Eagles. Right now USM is at the top of his list, and he's planning on being on campus for junior day. Don't be shocked to see an early commitment from the 6'4 receiver.

-Grant Harris, DT, Clinton- Harris is a big time defensive tackle who the Eagles have just recently gotten in on. USM has offered him along with MSU and West Virginia. He's a big guy up front who plays with a big time motor. The Eagles are trying to get him in for junior day.

-A.J. Moore, LB, Bassfield- It is no secret that the Eagles have found a lot of talent right down the road in Bassfield. A big time linebacker is there in Moore, and the Eagles were the first to jump on him. In fact, the previous staff made the offer and it still holds. Moore would be a great fit in the attacking Duggan defense.

-DeShaun Davis, LB, Vigor HS, Pritchard (AL)- Davis is a very talented linebacker who is already hearing from just about everyone in the southeast. Southern Miss is in the mix for him, and if they can get him on campus on the 23rd it will be a very big opportunity to show that Davis would have a chance to play early for the Eagles.

-Mattrell McGraw, S, Curtis Christian, River Ridge (LA)- McGraw is one of a slew of D1 talent on the Curtis National Championship team, so these guys are hearing from about everyone. USM became his 20th offer.

-Quade Alexander, CB, Florence (AL)- Alexander is an unrated prospect by, but he won't be for long as his recruiting is really starting to heat up. The Eagles were his first offer, and that means a lot to him, but they will have to fight off a lot of schools that are coming on strong for the talented CB. He's expected to come to junior day on the 23rd, and maybe the Eagles can get an early commitment from him.

-Jermaine Roberts, CB, Saint Augustine HS, New Orleans (LA)- Southern Miss is looking to have a strong presence in south Louisiana once again, and Coach Simon is working hard down there to see that the Eagles do. He's already offered Roberts, and don't be surprised to see several from this school that he's very in on.

-Rejohn Franklin, LB, Harrison Central, Gulfport- Rejohn will be one of the more talented linebackers in the 2014 class in south MS, and though the Eagles have not offered he is on the radar. Don't be surprised to see him on campus junior day on the 23rd.

-Calvin Moore, Ath, Bassfield- Brother of A.J., Calvin is very talented though not as high profile as his brother. Expect him to really get some looks as the spring and summer move along, and the Eagles certainly might consider him at defensive back.

-Garian Bradley, RB/LB, McAdory HS, McCalla (AL)- Bradley is a big 220 back who is very shifty for his size, and has great feet. Southern Miss likes him at RB, and he's already accepted an invitation for junior day. Though he hasn't seen an offer yet, expect that to change soon.

-George Moreira, RB, Curtis Christian, River Ridge (LA)- Here is another talented player from the Curtis pipeline that hasn't received a ton of attention because of the talent on this team. He's a nice back who told us that he's very close to a Southern Miss offer. He's been offered an invite to junior day, and is likely to come. I expect an offer to come soon from the talented back.
