Here is what we have learned lately in the world of Southern Miss recruitinging...
-Early next week the staff will be visiting current Golden Eagle commits to secure things and make sure they are good to go heading the critical weeks leading up to signing day.
-One member of the staff will be flying out to California to meet with C JuCo prospect Markus Boyer (6'1, 300lbs) from Saddleback College.
-Southern Miss is also pursuing 6'7 OT Tanner Myers from Coffeyville in efforts to secure an offensive tackle for next season. Tanner is visited UTSA this weekend and also has an official scheduled to South Alabama.
-Look for visits from Vitas Hrynkiewicz, OL, from Independence CC in KS and Detric Bing-Dukes, LB, from Iowa Western CC for next weekend.
-Two commitments that are possibilities next week are DE Rahmeel Cook of Demopolis, and Quan Weaver from Phenix City (AL). Both have expressed high interest in Southern Miss and if things work out for both parties could be connecting next week.
-I was told last night that star LB Chase Monroe ('17, Davidson Day HS NC) got a visit from a coach at Clemson and they could be close to offering. With the heavy ties to Southern Miss, expect the Eagles to be right there with them though.
-DE KaDerrion Mason took a visit to Kentucky last weekend but did not commit. The McComb, MS product has been high on the list for Southern Miss.
Stay tuned to more as we continue to dig this weekend...
