Chandler Anthony is a talented 6'7 OL from Tuttle (OK) who has several options as his recruiting heads toward a close.
Gaining a full head of steam, Anthony is taking several visits and is trying to narrow things down heading toward signing day. His most recent visit was this past weekend where he took a trip up to Illinois State.
"It was a great facility up here, and I liked the town a lot," Anthony told GoldenEaglePride.com. "They had already offered so it was great to get a feel of the school and spend time with the coaches. It's a great school."
He's now got a visit set next weekend with the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss.
"Coach Monken being an Oklahoma guy with roots there had a connection with some high school coaches and they found me," he said.
"I also have gotten to talk some football with Coach Meadows. We have established a relationship and I think Coach Meadows will come by before I make the visit next weekend. They seem like a very high achieving, energetic staff and I look forward to seeing them in person on campus."
Anthony certainly has a good head on his shoulders when it comes to the recruiting process. He has a clear idea of what he's looking for in his next school.
"I have learned through this process that not everything is a guarantee. You have to latch onto opportunities as they arise," he said.
"I've always prided myself in academics and I want to find a school that has good academics all around. I want something that has real world application. It is also just about fit. It's hard to know everything until you are there. I want to know how I'd fit in with the other guys on the team, how comfortable I feel in the town and if I can see myself fitting in that school enviornment for four years. It really comes down to the feel you get while on campus."
Anthony is enjoying the process and said he'll make the call when the time feels right.
"There are some still in the mix and I know there could be some that come up before signing day," he said. "I am thinking about visiting New Mexico State that last weekend, but maybe not if I find the right fit first. If I find the right place I'll end it right there."
