The Golden Eagles are wasting no time at all in getting after the class of 2017.
Today, they have extended more offers, including one in Georgia to Wheeler HS (Marietta) outside LB Chinedu Ogbonna. The offer was the first to the talented Linebacker, who will be one to watch during the 2016 season.
Ogbonna, 6'3, 210, has a nice frame and as he adds weight will be a head hunter in his senior season. With great insticts to the ball and good quickness, Ogbonna already brings a lot to the table.
He's very excited about his offer to Southern Miss, too.
"It means so much that Southern Miss was the first school to offer me," he told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"They were the first to believe in me. Others have shown interest, but they were the first to say they wanted me in their program at the next level. That means a lot."
Ogbonna said he was already familiar with Southern Miss.
"It has always been a good school to me and I have always known about their program," he said. "They want me to come in and said I can change the face of their program and their defense."
He's still got a very long time before he will make his deicision, and for now he just plans to keep working and getting ready for his senior season.
"I've been lifting weights and trying to get stronger," he said.
"I run track and mostly just focus on school. I have a lot in front of me and I'm excited about the future."
