Outside LB prospect Tobias Larry of Kathleen HS in Florida has picked up an offer to Southern Miss.
The 6'2, 195lb Larry got off the phone yesterday with the coaches from the Golden Eagle program, before attending today a Nike Combine in Orlando.
"I had a good time down there and I felt like I did a real good job," Larry told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"There was a lot of coaches there but they didn't talk to us there. They were just there to watch."
He now holds three offers, and also expects one soon from another C-USA school.
"I've been talking to Marshall too in addition to my offers from Bowling Green, U-Mass, and Southern Miss," he said.
"They (Southern Miss) told me that I was a great player and they loved how I can get to the ball. They said they liked my style as an aggressive linebacker. We talked about other things as well. I'm very grateful for an offer there because they sound like they have a great program. I was with my friend Ventrell (Miller) and coach said he wanted to speak to both of us. I handed the phone over and they made an offer to him too."
Though going to combines, he's working on another sport that will aid in his football.
"I run track too to stay in shape and work on my speed," he said. "I run long distance too in addition to the 200, I also run the 1600."
"I need more tackles for losses next season and I need to make more big plays for the team. I want to improve on getting to the ball quicker and getting off blocks. I want to just improve on my keys and reads."
Larry said he has some specific goals in mind when choosing his school at the next level.
"I want to go to a place where I can continue to grow in my faith, that is very important to me," he said.
"I want a school with a family feel that will stick with me and be loyal to me. I hope to visit Southern Miss and check it out this spring."
