Southern Miss continues to expand its recruiting horizons in the southeast.
Today, they extended an offer to talented South Carolina (South Aiken HS) ATH Tancey Richardson. The 5'10, 180lb explosive athlete said he had been hearing from the staff at Southern Miss before Coach Monken left, and that relationship has continued.
"Coach Simon was my recruiter from Southern Miss before the coaching change," Richardson told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"Today I heard from Coach Nicholson who told me they knew I was being recruited by Southern Miss and they were also very impressed by my film. He said they want to offer me and they want me to come play there. They invited me to Junior Day in April, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it over."
Richardson said he's getting to know more and more about the Southern Miss program.
"I didn't know a lot about them before Coach Simon started recruiting me," he said. "Now that they've offered I'm going to continue to learn more and am excited about taking a visit over there.
"They also said they could see me on both sides of the ball. I am starting to like playing CB most but I'll play anywhere they need me to."
Richardson also has an offer to North Carolina State, and for now, he's content to keep working out for football and run track before thinking about where he's going to go next year.
"I have a lot of time to think about it," he said. "I'm thankful for the offers.
"I want to go to a place where I can get a good education and the staff has loyalty. I just want to find the place that feels most like home."
