Southern Miss has once again made its presence felt in the state of Florida.
Corey Gaynor of Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, FL, has picked up an offer to the Golden Eagle program. The talented, 6'4, 280lb OG received the news when it was messaged to him.
"They offered me today," Gaynor told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"And coach just said 'you have an offer from southern miss big dog. Gotta come up and see us.'"
He said the relationship with the staff at Southern Miss is one he's held with the staff for a while, even before they were at USM.
"I know a little bit about the program," he said.
"Been talking to the coach for awhile. Looks like a great place. Trying to see if I'm gonna check it out with my coach."
He also has offers to Marshall, Georgia Southern, UCF, Idaho, and Louisiana Monroe in addition to Southern Miss. Wherever he decides, it appears that offensive tackle is his spot at the next level.
"Most of the coaches have been telling me I'm a tackle in their offense," he said. "I play guard now."
Gaynor said he's unsure if he'll be able to attend USM's junior day coming up in early April.
