Southern Miss has added talented ATH Tancey Richardson from Aiken, SC. The 5'11 speedy talent has played both offense and defense for his high school. The commitment is the 3rd for the class of 2017, and it is only the beginning of March.
"It is a great program and I just feel that they were underrated and have a lot of great thing going for them," he told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"I can't explain it other than to just say I know it is the right fit for me."
Richardson said he also holds an offer to NC State, and doesn't quite yet know where he'll fit in for the Eagles. He's played both RB and DB for his high school.
"Right now I'll either be on offense or defense and they just said they want to get me in and see where I'll be the right fit," he said.
Why the early commitment?
"I just feel like it was the right decision and they were my first offer," he added.
"That meant a lot to me and I want to be able to give a lot back to their program. I'm just proud and excited about the opportunity I have in front of me."
Richardson said he'll also be coming to Junior Day at Southern Miss in the beginning of April.
