Southern Miss extends a big offer to a lineman in Georgia, and he talks about it with

Jalen Jackson is one who is just starting to gain some serious attention in the recruiting world.

The talented 6'3 interior lineman has picked up an early offer to Southern Miss, with much more to come, it appears.

"I'm hearing from about 30 schools that told me they are going to visit me during spring ball," Jackson told  "I'm excited about it.  I know I have a lot of work to do to get ready to go."

Southern Miss is the latest school to get in on Jackson, making him an offer after staying in communication with him.

"They first followed me on twitter and I reached out to them and asked them to take a look at my film," he said.

"After a while, Coach Woz got back to me and him and I talked for a while.  They were really excited and showed great interest in me.  I really liked that a lot, and last night Coach shot me his number and said give me a call.  I did and then he told me that I have an offer from Southern Miss.

"They said they loved my tape and then we just talked on the phone for about an hour.  It was so excited, it was just a great feeling overall."

So, what are the talented lineman's thoughts on the program at Southern Miss?

"I really like it a lot," he said.

"They are certainly not short on tradition with Brett Favre and being the team that stopped Bear Bryant's win streak.  They have beat Alabama and Auburn and other great schools over and over and then dominating their conference."

He said he is also hearing from Wake Forest, Tulane, Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, FAU, Illinois, Colorado State, and Charlotte among others.  He plans to take a visit to Southern Miss during the summer.
