Thomas Morton Talks about his USM Junior Day experience

Southern Miss gets a visit from Niceville trio, and QB Thomas Morton talks about his time on campus...

The Niceville (FL) trio of Thomas MortonDeonte' Sheffield, and Justin Varas visited the Southern Miss campus last weekend for Junior Day.

Morton, QB (6'4, 210), has extra incentive to check out the Hattiesburg campus.

"It was great," he said.  "I love the coaching staff and Hattiesburg.  Both of my parents went here and I grew up a USM fan, so its just great being here for myself."

Morton talked about what the staff had to say to him.

"They wanted me to know they were interested in me and that we are going to talk more especially later in the spring," he added.

Morton was really impressed by watching Southern Miss scrimmage as well as the new facilities he was able to see.

"They got after it," he said.

"It was great to see all the guys compete and just for me to get a feel of what a practice is like.  I loved to see how the coaches interacted with the players as well.

"The new additions are really awesome.  The new weight room is first class and the plans for the locker room look great.  I can't wait to see what they look like when they are finished with it all."

Morton also said the trio was able to take a tour of the campus and get a feel for college life.  He and his teammates all hope to be back to visit Southern Miss for a game in the fall.
