Brian Hughes is a 6'3, 200lb athletic up and coming QB from Richmond Hill, GA, who just picked up an offer to Southern Miss today.
The talented QB has been working hard and with him starting spring practice, is about to explode onto the recruiting scene. As they've done with many prospects, Southern Miss was one of the first to get in on him.
"Coach Nicholson got up with me and he said that they watched my film and think I'm a special player," Hughes told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"They think I can impact the program as a true freshman."
Hughes, being a QB, was very aware of another great to come through Hattiesburg years before.
"I knew about the program obviously because of Brett Favre," he said.
"Me being a QB, I knew about that, but also I knew about the program being rich in football tradition."
Right now, the offer to Southern Miss is his second. He's also been offered by Coastal Carolina.
"I just have one other, but I have more to come once I start spring practice next week," he added.
He's also hearing from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, The Citadel, Wake Forest, Louisville, and South Carolina among others. He said he's hoping to come to a camp at Southern Miss, as well as possibly take a visit.
