Martavious Hardrick is a huge defensive tackle (6'4, 290) who plays for Mosley HS in Lynn Haven, FL. With defensive tackles always at a premium, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles have been on the prowl for some good ones. They certainly wanted to get in early with the talented big man, and it appears it is starting to pay off.
He was first talked to by the coaches when he took a visit to Southern Miss.
"I walked up to the table I shook Coach Hopson's hand and he said it was nice to meet me and he looked at me and said 'what I'm gonna do now is offer you,'" he told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"My coach showed him some practice film. He said I'll probably get a lot of offers and that he looks forward to recruiting me then tried to sell his program to me and then he gave me a camp form and a magnet."
That first offer has meant everything to Hardrick.
"No matter how many schools offer me, they will always be my top or right at the top because of the love that they have shown me," he said.
"Getting that first offer means all my hard work has paid off and that I just have to keep working hard so I don't have any limits at the next level."
Hardrick doesn't have any more offers yet, but he said that several schools have been in contact and will be visiting him.
"Florida, Iowa State, and Troy told me they were going to come by and see one of my spring practices," he said.
