Korey Hernandez is a talented defensive back who has transferred for his senior season to Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, (GA).
The talented rising senior has had plenty of looks at the next level, and the Golden Eagles of Southern Miss have made their presence felt with the speedy defensive prospect.
Coach Nicholson visited the talented prospect at school, and he detailed the exchange with GoldenEaglePride.com..
"I was just sitting in class, and then all of a sudden I got pulled out," he said.
"They brought me to the office and said that Coach Nicholson was here to see me and that he wanted to make me an offer to Southern Miss. He told me how impressed they were with me and that they wanted to offer me."
He said he immediately did his homework on the program.
"Coach Nicholson told me how much tradition and pride the school has in its football program," he said.
"That impressed me. Then, I did some research on my own and couldn't believe all the programs they have beat over the years."
Hernandez transferred back in January, and said he's ready for spring ball to get started.
"I'm so excited, I've been waiting for this all year," he said.
"With it only a day away, I've been hearing from a lot of programs. Duke, Wake Forest, Arizona, Purdue, and pretty much all the Ivy League schools have shown interest. Southern Miss, his first offer, will certainly be at the top of the list for now."
